Working As A Marketing Lead | Meet Robin
Robin Rehn has combined two of his loves here at Zervant: creativity and hard data. Our Growth Specialist Robin was just applying for a customer service job three years ago. One thing led to another, and now he works with marketing.

How did you end up here at Zervant?
I was studying business at the Hanken School of Economics and wanted a summer job. I searched online and found an opening at Zervant. It looked like a cool place! Zervant combines technology and entrepreneurship, two things I am really interested in. I applied and was lucky enough to get hired.
My first role was as a Customer Service Specialist. This basically meant that I helped our customers with their questions. I also helped with writing articles for our Help Centre. I also got to work on building a ticket labelling structure for incoming customer queries. This time was invaluable for me as I learned a lot about our customers and the software.
Over time the customer service team grew and I became a Customer Success Manager and had more responsibility. In the past, my role was more reactive, but this role was more about proactively helping onboard our customers with using the software.
Now you’re a Growth Specialist, what does that mean?
I project manage our product launches and other marketing campaigns, taking responsibility for our growth targets. I also work on automating our customer communications, and I like to run a lot of experiments. That way you can test what works and what doesn’t. It helps with optimising how campaigns and content perform.
During these three years I’ve seen us double in size. We have moved past the initial start-up phase and into a growth phase. At Zervant, we’re not afraid of experimenting. We’ll try different organisational structures to adapt to new products, and new ways of working to better serve our customers. This creates new opportunities to take on more responsibility, enabling you to grow.
The best thing is how much I get to learn. I’m still early on in my career and I want to learn a lot. Every day, I get to work with people who are smarter or more experienced than me, which forces me to grow. I also have the luxury of having great supervisors, who trust me and encourage me to develop in the areas I’m interested in.
We also have an annual training budget which we are encouraged to use. Last year I went to a growth hacking course and this year I will go to either a coding or SQL course. We also teach each other! Recently our data scientist gave us a data analytics workshop. Our Lead Developer Lassi also arranged a coding school for us. Both were very educational and I really enjoyed them.
That’s another nice thing about working for a small, growing company. You learn so much about all aspects of running the business, from pricing to product development. We often talk about issues together.
What is most challenging?
We have very ambitious growth targets. You have to be able to balance your long-term and short-term goals to meet them.
How would you describe Zervant as a workplace?
It’s relaxed and we like to joke around, but simultaneously we have a very driven culture. I’d say we have a true “make it happen” attitude. We often arrange activities together outside of work.
I don’t want to sound cheesy, but the people here definitely inspire me. They are smart, experienced and ambitious.
Since we are growing rapidly there are opportunities to create and shape your own role. For instance, I get to combine creativity with data analytics, both of which really interest me.
How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
That’s a good question. I’m the quiet type, but I like to joke around. Personally, I think I’m hilarious but I don’t know if others agree!
Let’s practice some Swedish and thank you for your time: tack så mycket!
Tack själv! That is another nice thing about working here. We have diverse backgrounds, cultures and languages. We don’t all think alike and this creates a great atmosphere for personal and professional growth.
